Oct 26, 2010…elliptical….6mi -28:00…..lower body work

Worked thru 6 miles on the elliptical. Meant to get up at 7 but must have snoozed my alarm and didnt get up til 7:20 so I had to cut the workout short to be sure I could get in my lower body work and a shower before the minions awoke.  I started to use a little heavier weight for my lower body work. To start I was using just 3lbs for everything….then I started last week to use 5lbs just for the squats and 3s for everything else.  This time I did 5s for everything except lunges.  I plan to start using 5s for lunges as well next week.

2mi tempo…..17:40 (!!!)  splits were 9:20/8:20….temp: 43* and gusty winds….gear: headband, LS shirt, tank top, running tights, shorts, gloves, hydration belt, music

Started out at 7am. It gets darker and darker every morning-I dont like it!  I started out speedy and was a little afraid I couldnt maintain my speed (which isnt even that fast to begin with). The first mile was SO windy (towards me) that it felt like someone was tuggin on the back of my shirt trying to stop my advancement, but I would not be stopped!  =)  At .75 miles in I had to pull back the pace and take a breather. Then around 1mile I picked up speed and when I had around a 1/2 mile left, I really threw it all out there.  I was probably quite a mess when I was done what with all the huffing and puffing, but wow! I was SO super pleased with my time!  I warmed up around 5 min into my run, but due to the way I mapped this route, I was on a super busy street and didnt feel like wrestling out of my LS shirt, so I just pulled up the sleeves and planned to take it off when I got onto a side street, but by that point I was so focused on blazin’, that I didnt want to take the time to slow down enough to get it off. It was the first thing to go after I stopped =)

I got home and jumped on the elliptical (14 minutes, 3 miles) as I just didnt feel like 17 minutes of running was really going to cut it for todays cardio. I actually REALLY enjoyed doing the elliptical after my run as my legs and lungs felt throughly warmed up and ready to go. 

After the elliptical, I did upper body work which felt great. I love the changes I am seeing in my body!
